May Flowers

May Flowers

May is an exciting month for Southeast Baptist Church, as always. There are several special events in addition to our regular activities and sporting events!

Special Events:

On May 6th, the first Sunday in May, our church will celebrate its homecoming. Beginning as Southeast Chapel, a missions opportunity for First Baptist Church, six women began meeting in one of the homes along Liberty Road in 1975. On May 2nd, 1982, Southeast Baptist Church was constituted. We celebrate this occasion with

a fellowship meal after church service. Bring your favorite dish (or dishes) to share with our church family. This year we will also be gathering at the soccer field for a dedication in the memory of Justin Alston.

On May 13th, we will celebrate Mother’s Day. This is typically the time when, if there are new babies born within the past year, we dedicate them to the church. This year we had two new babies born to church families! We will have a dedication for Jack Silas Mearns and Zoren Asher Graves.

There will be no evening activities either of these two Sundays.

Meetings/Activities:

On May 7th from 1-3 p.m. the SALTY DOGS committee will meet. The “Sticky Faith” parenting class will continue to meet on Tuesdays, May 8th, 15th and 22nd. We are learning ways to disciple our children and ensure they have “Sticky Faith” that will stick with them past high school and into adulthood. The youth will be going to volunteer at the YWCA on May 9th from 5:15 to 7 p.m. The Baptist Women will be meeting on May 15th from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the home of Marie Dymmel. The Stewardship committee will meet on May 16th from 7 to 8 p.m.

Sports:

Children’s soccer games continue today, May 5th through May 19th (a rain make-up day). Come support the children and their families as they finish the season!

Our men’s softball team is wrapping up their stunning regular season on May 11th at 8:30 p.m. and May 18th with a double-header at 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The game scheduled for tonight will be forfeited, bringing our 0 and 4 season to a dismal 0 and 5. The players had fun this season, but I’m not sure they were entirely necessary to the actual game. I joke.
