                As I sit down to read the devotions in this guide…devotions prepared prayerfully and from the heart…I have a decision to make.  In fact, it’s a decision each of us makes every year about this time.  That decision?  It is choosing how we will make our way into Advent.  We have this powerful culture which has thrown together a mass of special events and called them either the holidays or the holiday season (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years).  Will I let myself be overwhelmed and controlled by this?  My choice, and hopefully yours, is to not do so.

                Take this Guide in hand and allow the words of each Advent day to become personal.  These are expressions of our brother’s or sister’s relationship with Christ.  They are a call to pull a bit away from the culture and put on the preparation needed to see two things again…the birth of our Lord and the need to live in anticipation of this return (the Next Advent).

                Yes, Christmas is coming again!  Aren’t we glad!
