Adult Choir

Our purpose is to aid in the Sunday morning worship service through hymns, praise songs/choruses, and special songs/anthems as well as to aid in special services/programs during Holy Week, Thanksgiving, Advent, and other special times of the year. We meet for rehearsal year-round on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00PM* in the sanctuary and on Sundays from 10-10:15AM to warm up to sing during the Sunday morning worship service from 10:15-11:30AM. We also participate in a variety of special programs throughout the year. There is no audition and the ability to read music is not a requirement, but you must love to sing!

*Childcare is available during this rehearsal time

Praise Band & Vocal Ensemble

We have a praise band and vocal ensemble that participates in the morning worship service in order to encourage worship through contemporary music. We are always looking for more instrumentalists and singers to join us. The vocal ensemble meets on Sunday evenings from 5:30-6:30PM and the praise band meets from 6:00-7:30PM on Sunday evenings. Again, there is no audition and reading music is not a requirement.

Children’s Choir

During the school year, our children’s choir rehearses from 5:15-5:45PM on Wednesdays, joins in the Sunday morning worship service from time to time (usually on a monthly basis), and presents special programs throughout the year. The children’s choir also enjoys seasonal outings, prizes, candy and fun time together. It is open to all children in grades one through six and there is no audition or any need to be able to read music.

Handbell Choir

We also have a handbell choir that assists with our morning worship services as well as special services throughout the year. This group meets for rehearsals on Sunday evenings from 4:00-5:00PM. If you’ve never played a handbell, but would like to learn, we offer beginning handbell classes at the start of each new season.

Sound, Audio and Visual Team

An important part of the music ministry is the sound, audio and visual team. We always need people willing to enhance the music ministry and the worship services/special services throughout the year. No musical/technological expertise is required-we will help train you on the sound and/or computer equipment.

Musicals

Each Christmas, our congregation looks forward to a musical complete with drama, set, lights and costumes. All aspects of the musical are open to those that have an interest in theater. This year’s musical is entitled “The Christmas Post” and the performance dates are Saturday, December 10 at 6:00PM and Sunday, December 11 at 6:00PM. We also invite other churches in the area to participate as we raise hundreds of pounds of food for the Alamance Presbyterian Church food pantry. Past musical performances include: “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”; “Christmas at Uncle Phil’s Diner” (a dinner theatre); “Four Tickets to Christmas”; and “A Time for Christmas.”

Worship Committee

The purpose of our worship committee is to evaluate all aspects of our worship services and look for new ways to encourage our congregation in joyful worship of our Lord Jesus Christ. The worship committee also helps in the implementation of special services during Holy Week, Thanksgiving, Advent, and other special times throughout the year. Listed below are the members of our committee for the upcoming 2011-2012 year. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions that directly relate to congregational worship, please see one of the members listed below.

Congregational Worship

We have one service on Sunday mornings at 10:15AM and it is a blended service, incorporating all types of elements of the traditional and contemporary, using various musical styles throughout the service from week to week as well as utilizing different types of musical ensembles. Our goal is to encourage everyone to participate in joyful worship together regardless of personal preferences.
